D. H. ROBBINS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

NEW SIXTH GRADE TEACHER AT D.H. ROBBINS

New Teacher

There is one new face among the faculty at D.H. Robbins Elementary School this year, sixth-grade teacher Thomas Jordan.

A graduate of Greenwich High School in Washington County, Jordan attended Fulton-Montgomery Community College for two years and transferred to SUNY Oneonta. After graduation, he became a substitute teacher in Schuylerville and Cambridge schools and started a power washing business, which he still operates. St. Johnsville is his first full-time teaching position.

Jordan and his wife Marcie, a teacher in Mayfield Central School, live in Saratoga with their chocolate lab, Tucker, a therapy dog who will likely make an appearance or two at D.H. Robbins this year. In his spare time, Jordan likes to spend time outdoors including hiking, hunting, and fishing.

THERE IS STILL TIME TO ENROLL IN PRE-KINDERGARTEN

Graduates

The Universal Pre-Kindergarten program at D.H. Robbins Elementary School is still taking applications for the 2010-11 school year. The program is open to all children in the district who will be four years old by Dec. 1, 2010. Classes are held five days a week from 8:15 – 10:45 a.m.

The goal of Universal Pre-K is to help children prepare for kindergarten and a successful academic future. In UPK, students have the opportunity to learn, experiment, work together, solve problems, and be creative. Children experience these opportunities through dramatic play, small group activities, hands-on learning, and a comprehensive curriculum.

Applications are available at the elementary school office or by calling (518) 568-7023.
