Greetings. We're looking forward to a fantastic year with your second grader. Miss McNulty and Mrs. Null have planned many exciting adventures for this year. This web page should give you some basic information about our daily routines and expectations.
SUPPLY LIST
The following is a list of supplies for your child to have when they arrive in Second Grade in September:
No Trapper-Keepers or wheeler backpacks please! They won't fit in our lockers. Please label supplies with student's name. Thank you.

CLASSROOM RULES
Second graders are expected to follow the school rules which include:
1. Follow directions the first time they're given.
2. Respect others and their property.
Please encourage your child to:
1. Use good manners.
2. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
3. Use "inside" voices.
4. Walk at all times.
5. Clean up materials when you are done with them and take good care of school supplies.
We are trying to instill good character and work habits. If everyone respects others and their property, and does their best each day, students will experience success.

REWARDS
When students follow class rules, they may receive praise, stickers, snacks, special projects, and certificates. Please take time to talk to your child about good behavior in school.

HOMEWORK
Your child will have brief homework assignments on a regular basis. The purpose is to review concepts learned in school, give parents the opportunity to see what children are working on, and to develop responsibility which will benefit them throughout life. Individual projects will be assigned from time to time that tie in with what we're doing in class. Some, but not all assignments will be graded. An assignment sheet will be sent home each Monday and will contain homework assignments for the week. Homework should take no longer than 20 minutes. If you see that your child is taking longer, please contact me.
PURPLE TAKE-HOME FOLDER
A purple folder will be given to your child on the first day of school. Watch for this folder each night. It is very important for this folder to go home and be returned to school each day. It will help your child learn to be organized, keep papers from getting lost, and be a means for school-parent communication. Homework should be returned to school in this folder, the homework assignment sheet should stay here also. and papers and notices to parents will be sent home via this folder.

MONEY
Money sent to school for any reason must be placed in an envelope labeled with your child's name and the purpose for the money. Students cannot remember what the money is for when they get to school and it is easily lost. The safest way to ensure that money gets to school and is used for the right reason is to place it in an envelope and then in the purple take-home folder.
SNACK
We will be having milk and a snack daily. After working hard, students need to take a break and enjoy a snack each day. Also, It's difficult to learn when little tummies are hungry. If you wish your child to purchase snack milk, a ticket for 10 milks can be purchased for $3.00. A snack calendar will be sent home at the beginning of each month.

TEACHER CONTACT
Please contact me if you are having any concerns about your child's academic, social, or behavioral progress. Don't hesitate to jot me a note or send an e-mail. Children do best when teachers and parents work together. I look forward to getting to know parents as well as students.
